Testing the Salomon Skin Pro 14+3 Set

14-20 miles today on Chubb Trail with my new pack. 50oz hydration bladder filled to 35oz, some random athletic gear stuffed in the main pocket and nutrition items like Bonk Breaker bars and One Bars in the smaller outer pocket and GoPro camera in the front pocket for easy access.

Test one for my 20+ day adventure across Spain with only a 17 liter capacity pack begins now.

Dec. 26th update to my run on the 22nd: Actually ran 11+ miles along Chubb Trail because I spent more time playing with the GoPro Hero 2 camera and trying to get fun footage for the campaign video than actually running the trail and getting a workout.  ALSO, took a nice fall while bombing down one of the technical, ie. rocky, rutted, root and fall leaves covered, muddy downhills after taking a misstep on a slightly slanted and very slick mud patch which put me down on my left side and left forearm before I knew it sliding fast toward a tree in the middle of the trail.  I slowed just enough during the awkwardly controlled slide for a soft impact into the tree with my chest.  A close call to what could have been my first serious injury out on the trails.

Fueled up and ready to go! Running Chubb Trail (MO)

Calories and Synchro shake...check! Weather and map review...check! Gear prep next.

Let the training miles begin!

I have a training plan in the works and it's set to kickoff during Christmas break, which for me is Dec. 21st - 28th while I'm back home in Saint Louis, Missouri visiting my family.

It will look something like: run 10 miles each day 5-6 days per week for the month of January and 20 miles per day 5-6 days per week for the month of February. With weekly mileage volumes of 50+ in January and ramping up to 100+ in February I should be ready to take on 20-30 miles each day as I navigate, i.e. follow the Pilgrimage markers, across Northern Spain.

Temperatures average between 35-60 degrees Fahrenheit that time of year while I plan to be on the trail. Not the temps I typically enjoy running in, but the more close to 60 degree days I encounter, the better. Layers will be key in my planning yet tough to carry since I'm only traveling with a 17 liter capacity pack. This will be a true test of just how efficient a traveler I am.

Crowd funding via Indiegogo is underway: It's becoming a reality...

I've started the planning of the Indiegogo crowd funding page.  The ideas around how to let others interested in supporting the adventure to be a part of it both by sharing the story of my upcoming run across Northern Spain via El Camino de Santiago and how/what to donate/support is coming together.
